The story of my grandparents born in different countries but united through migration. Their experiences within Britain took different paths but were initiated for the same reasons, to improve their lifestyle, to provide a better home for their children.

Both Mrs Prince and Mrs McKay each leaving behind one child took the voyage to Britain in the 1950's. Both settled in the Borough of Hackney, had children and did not return 'back home' as soon as they had expected, although 38 years later Mrs McKay and her husband are now back in Guyana.

My families history in Britain dates back to 1955 when my fathers parents arrived, followed by my Mothers parents in 1958.
